Overview

C S. Lewis stands as one of the most influential Christians of the twentieth century. His commitment to the life of the mind and the life of the heart is evident in classics like the Chronicles of Narnia and Mere Christianity—books that illustrate the unbreakable connection between rigorous thought and deep affection. With contributions from Randy Alcorn, John Piper, Philip Ryken, Kevin Vanhoozer, David Mathis, and Douglas Wilson, this volume explores the man, his work, and his legacy—reveling in the truth at the heart of Lewis’s spiritual genius: God alone is the answer to our deepest longings and the source of our unending joy.

C S. Lewis is an interesting person with many great thoughts. He also influenced me positively, still much of his theology is not in the tradition of the Reformers which these authors are. In this sense, I found them very positive about Lewis as he brought much brilliant thought to the Christian West. However, I was wondering how these persons would talk about a person with a kind of similar theology as Lewis but without his great mind. Probably they won't be that positive and maybe depict him as a heretic. What I missed in the chapter which addresses this was a real critical person about C.S. Lewis and not someone who wants to show that he does not agree with him but still defends him. Another point which I find difficult to address is C.S. Lewis's usage of magic and if this is possible for a Christian writer. Which I am personally very critical of, as the Bible warns us numerously about this. When we come to the end of the book, we get a kind of panel discussion which did not feel so important for me, to listen to. Still, most chapters are rich in beautiful thoughts and the listener can learn a lot from it.
